The youngest World Squash Champion, Nour El Sherbini

Nour el Sherbeiny is one of the egyptian legends in squash. She was born on the 1st of november, 1995 and raised in Alexandria, Egypt. She started playing at age of 6 and by the time she was 8, she started participating in tournaments. Omar el Sherbini, her brother, was the reason behind her interest in squash. As well as, her father, who was a football player.


The young champion made history in 2009, where she became the youngest World Junior Champion at age 13. At age 14, she broke into the world´s top fifty and announced her first tour Title at the Heliopolis Open in 2010. A year later, she won the Alexandria International Open title  and became the first 16 year old to win two WISPA tour titles. As of 2012, El Sherbini shocked the world when she made it to the British Open final but unfortunately lost to Nicole David. At the Greenwich Open in 2013, El Sherbini achieved her third World Junior Championship. And in 2014, she became the youngest player to reach a World Championship after defeating David in the final and narrowly losing to Laura Massaro. And finally, In 2016, this was her breakthrough year as she became the first female Egyptian to lift the iconic British open crown.
